Collier County Sheriff deputies are searching for the man who robbed an East Naples Dunkin Donuts at gunpoint Sunday night. The store is located at the corner of East Tamiami Trail and Courthouse Shadows.

Images from a surveillance camera inside the Dunkin Donuts show the robber pointing a black semiautomatic handgun at someone behind the counter. Witnesses inside the store told deputies that he demanded whatever cash was in the register.

The suspect was wearing a pink baseball cap and gray long-sleeved shirt, and witnesses said he had gray bushy hair with a ponytail and a mustache. They also told deputies that when the register was opened, the robber grabbed the money and stuffed it into a white plastic shopping bag - and even scooped the money from a tip jar before leaving.

"I come in here once or twice a week, and I'm just kind of surprised by it," said Dunkin Donuts customer Kerry Gill. "This person must be kind of desperate."

Customer Gary Waters and his wife stop in for coffee and a donut almost every day. He said that despite the crime targeting a place that he frequents, he feels the area is safe.

"That's why we settled down here - it's extremely safe," Waters said. "This is probably one of those rare occurences."

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 239-774-4434.
