LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for a missing man who's boat was found adrift in the gulf off the Naples cost over the weekend.

48-year-old Jeffery John Reinhardt was last seen near Stump Pass Marina in Englewood, but the Coast Guard says his 25-foot boat was found empty in the gulf 14 miles from Naples, off Gordon Pass after being reported missing Friday night.

The search was called off Monday afternoon.  "Our sincerest condolences and sympathies go out to the friends and family of Jeffery," said Capt. Gregory Case, commander of Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg. "We have made the difficult decision to suspend our search. Despite our best efforts, searching alongside multiple agencies, we have been unable to locate him."

Coast Guard rescue crews involved in the search covered more than 5,100 square nautical miles during 29 separate searches.

Several other agencies were also involved in the search, including the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife, and private crews.
