CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral homeowner is demanding answers as to why his house has not been completed after paying more than 90% of the costs.

Robert Pott could not hold back tears while talking about the home he and his wife always dreamed of. They contracted Aranda Homes in Cape Coral to build it, and according to their contract, it should be nearly finished by now. The contract states that the builder has 180 working days to finish the house after construction began, which was in October. At this time, the house is about half way done.

Pott told Fox 4 in May, contractors stopped working because they were not getting paid. According to Pott, the company went out of business and is not honoring his contract anymore, making off with his money, and the money of five others in the same situation. "We who are home owners, I mean there's six of us, not just myself, we've all lost $100,000, $150,000 plus," he said.

So what obligation does the company have to the people who had contracts with them before they dissolved? Fox 4 attempted several avenues to contact them. We called, but got the company's message machine. We showed up to the business, but a woman who was leasing office space there told us they moved. "I don't know who owns Aranda Homes, but they were (here) before. They're not in here anymore," she said.

When asked how long ago they left, she said maybe a month. The company's website has also been taken offline

"This is a police report I just filed today relating to my case," said Pott pulling out a document. He said he's gone to the Cape Coral Police Department about the issue, but feels hopeless.

Fox 4 asked, "what will you do now?" He replied, "What I have to do..I'll fix it."
