One killed on Michael G. Rippe Parkway in Briarcliff

UPDATE--LEE COUNTY, Fla -- A fatal multi-car crash closed the northbound lanes o Michael G. Rippe Parkway in south Fort Myers Friday.

Police say a vehicle traveling southbound on Michael G. Rippe Parkway veered off the roadway in a westerly direction. The driver then overcorrected and and began traveling in a southeast direction. The driver crossed over all three southbound lanes and entered the northbound travel lanes directly in front of a second vehicle causing a collision. A third vehicle traveling northbound drove directly into the crash hitting the second vehicle.

Passenger, Erin Gorney, 26 of Naples, died at Gulf Coast Hospital.

No charges have been made.

 

 

One person was killed in a major crash on Michael G. Rippe Parkway in Briarcliff.

You can see firefighters trying to put out the fire on one of the cars.

Witnesses on the scene say several people are headed to the hospital.  And bystanders performed CPR on one person before ambulances arrived.

There's no word on the conditions of the other victims in the crash.
