The tropics are not finished yet this season as we are monitoring yet another system developing in the Caribbean. This area of disturbed weather known as Invest 93L will track northward toward western Cuba and the Bahamas this weekend. Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect for portions of Cuba and the northern Bahamas.
Impacts to South Florida will be minimal as the track should remain far enough south of the peninsula. There will be a threat for locally heavy rainfall mainly across southeast Florida and the Keys. A cold front will track through the area on Sunday pushing the storm northeast away from the US Coast. Rainfall totals across SWFL will range from 1-2" at the most, with heavier totals farther south and east across Monroe & Miami-Dade Co.
The next name on the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season list is Phillippe.
