Subtropical Storm Leslie forms in the Atlantic

UPDATE 9/23/18 5 PM EDT

Subtropical Storm Leslie has max winds at 40 mph, and is moving slowly west at 3 mph. The storm is expected to maintain its intensity for a few days as it meanders in the open waters of the Atlantic before being absorbed by another system. Leslie is not expected to have any impacts on the U.S.

UPDATE 9/23/18 11 AM EDT

A new named storm has formed in the Atlantic. Subtropical Storm Leslie has formed in the Atlantic. It is expected to remain in the open Atlantic and remain a tropical storm through this week. There are no indications that it will be an eventual threat to the U.S. but we will continue to monitor it.
