COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies have confirmed Southwest Florida's first death related to Hurricane Irma. Investigators say the victim, 35-year-old Yusdel Iglesias, died in his garage shortly after the storm, likely from carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office report, on Sunday night Iglesias lost power at his home in the 3600 block of 2nd Avenue NE in Golden Gate Estates.  His girlfriend tells deputies that with the house getting hot, Yusdel decided to sit in the car to cool off and charge their electronics.

Hours later, she reportedly found him unconscious in the garage.

At least 26 Florida deaths are linked to Irma.  But that number is expected to rise.
