Short lived Alpha becomes a remnant low over Portugal...this is the last advisory

Alpha has now been downgraded to a remnant low. Its still packing wind of 30 mph as it moves to the northeast at 16 mph. Post tropical Alpha will continue to bring rain and wind into parts of Portugal and Spain this weekend. This is the last advisory on Alpha.

UPDATE 9/18/20 5 PM

Alpha has weakened a bit to 45 mph as it is now over western Portugal. Strong wind and heavy rain will continue tonight and Saturday in Portugal and northwestern Spain. Alpha is expected to dissipate Saturday.

FIRST UPDATE 9/18/20 2 PM

Subtropical Storm Alpha has been named with maximum sustained wind of 50 mph. Its located just off the coast of Portugal and is moving northeast at 17 mph. This will be a short lived storm as it will move over land later today. Heavy rain and wind will move through parts of Portugal and Spain through Saturday. Remnants of Alpha will move through France on Sunday.
