School Closures in Southwest Florida due to Hurricane Dorian

School Closings

· Glades County Schools District will be closing starting August 31st until further notice. They will notify parents for reopening.

· Lee County Schools will make an announcement on or before Monday at noon.

· Collier County Schools will be making a decision on Sunday, September 1st.

· Hendry County Schools will not be in session on Tuesday September 3rd until further notice.

University Closings

· FGCU announced they will be closed on Tuesday, September 3rd due to Hurricane Dorian.

· Rasmussen College and their regional offices will be closed starting September1st.

· Florida SouthWestern State College campuses and centers will be closed Sunday, Sept. 1 through Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to the pending arrival of Hurricane Dorian.

Tropical Storm WATCH: An announcement that tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are possible within the specified coastal area within 48 hours.

Tropical Storm WARNING: An announcement that tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are expected within the specified coastal area within 36 hours.

Hurricane WATCH: An announcement that hurricane conditions (sustained winds of 74 mph or higher) are possible somewhere within the specified coastal area. A hurricane watch is issued 48 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.

Hurricane WARNING: An announcement that hurricane conditions (sustained winds of 74 mph or higher) are expected somewhere within the specified coastal area. A hurricane warning is issued 36 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.
