Sandbags available in Hendry County ahead of Tropical Storm Eta

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla — If you live in Hendry County, sandbags are now available.

Officials say this is to prepare for possible impacts Tropical Storm Eta could
bring.

You will need to bring your own shovel and will be responsible for loading the sandbags in your own vehicle.

Officials ask that residents limit themselves to 25 sandbags and only take what is needed.

Below is a list of sandbag locations.

  • South LaBelle - LaBelle Rodeo Grounds – 20
  • Veterans Way/ State Road 29 South
  • North LaBelle – Bob Mason Park – County Road 78
  • Felda – Felda Fire Department - 1100 County Road 830
  • Montura -Montura Fire Department 465 Del Sur Ave.
  • Pioneer – Pioneer Fire Department - 2499 Hendry Isles Blvd
  • Clewiston – Health Department – 1100 Olympia Street

Tropical Storm WATCH: An announcement that tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are possible within the specified coastal area within 48 hours.

Tropical Storm WARNING: An announcement that tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are expected within the specified coastal area within 36 hours.

Hurricane WATCH: An announcement that hurricane conditions (sustained winds of 74 mph or higher) are possible somewhere within the specified coastal area. A hurricane watch is issued 48 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.

Hurricane WARNING: An announcement that hurricane conditions (sustained winds of 74 mph or higher) are expected somewhere within the specified coastal area. A hurricane warning is issued 36 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.
