After several quiet weeks in the tropics, it appears that things are starting to heat up in the tropical Atlantic. In the wake of the development of Tropical Storm Chantal over the northern Atlantic, we are keeping a close eye on a second area of disturbed weather associated with a tropical wave near the Bahamas. This area has a 20% chance of development in the next 5 days. It will drift west toward the east coast of Florida, but any organization is expected to be slow. There is still a fair amount of wind shear in the Caribbean and this should keep it in check for the time being. We will keep you updated.
