HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — Hendry County is one of many in the state that's hunkering down as we wait for Dorian's potential arrival.

Fox 4 caught up with Clewiston convenience store owner, Yovi Diaz, who was boarding up his business Friday night.

Diaz says he's in been in business for 10 years now and his shop has withstood many storms in that time.

But despite this, Dorian is still making him a little nervous.

"The lake is close to us so I'm a little bit scared about it," said Diaz.

Yovi says if Dorian turns out to be really bad, he'll take advantage of a local shelter.

Hendry County Emergency Management Director, Richard Lehmkuhl announced earlier in the day that they are designating several local schools as shelters and are encouraging voluntary evacuations.

"Whenever we ask for people to leave on their own it's because we expect conditions that have happened before to happen again," said Lehmkuhl.

Lehmkuhl said the county will announce those shelter locations at 7 a.m. on August 31.
