COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Firefighters will be keeping a close eye Thursday on a brush fire that broke out Wednesday in the Golden Gate Estates section of Collier County.

It happened in the area of Frangipani Avenue near Sugarberry Street.

Right now the fire is 100% contained, but hot spots could still flare up.

The fire burned 80 acres.  At one point, the flames did threatened homes, however no one was forced to evacuate.

Caloosahatchee Fire tweeted out that firefighters saved 75 homes and buildings from the fire.

Fire crews are trying to contain a 60 acre wildfire burning in Collier County Wednesday afternoon.

The fire near Frangipani Avenue in Golden Gate Estates is burning near where a massive fire burned just weeks ago.  Because the area is already heavily burned out, it's helping firefighters contain the flames.  But high winds ahead of a weather front have helped to fan the flames.  Right now, containment is at 80 percent.

Frangipani Avenue is closed as fire crews use it as a staging area.  Officials say some structures are threatened.
