NORTH PORT, Fla. - An outdoor burn ban in now in effect in North Port.
The ban prohibits any type of outdoor fire - including campfire, land clearing and pile burns. It does not effect outdoor cooking or permits issued by the Florida Forest Service.
Sarasota County is 44 percent behind normal rainfall for the year to date, North Port officials said. The county is also seeing a high fire risk.
