POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a possible tornado picked up a southbound vehicle on Florida's Turnpike and dropped it in the northbound lanes.
A Broward Fire Rescue spokesman says one person was injured this morning.
High winds also knocked over a couple of cars on Broward College's north campus off Coconut Creek Parkway in Coconut Creek.
Part of the parkway is shut down nearby though. The eastbound lane from NW 43 Ave to the college is shut down.
Local police tell WPTV that they think it was a tornado, but the National Weather Service has yet to confirm that. Police say no one was in the cars that were flipped in the Broward College campus and no one was injured.
There are major traffic delays near the college.
A person at Broward College said she took video of cars flipped over and posted them on Instagram.
