LEE COUNTY, Fla. — More than 100 dolphins have died in Florida since July of this year. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that the number of dolphin deaths for Lee and Collier for November alone is 42.
These deaths are being listed as red tide suspect, but tests are being run to determine the exact causes.
Experts said red tide happens when algae colonies grow out of control due to pollution from farming, yard fertilizers and other human activities.
