This natural disaster season is unlike any we have faced before, as the current COVID-19 pandemic is forcing changes to standard procedures, such as mass shelters and evacuation plans.

Experts are predicting a busy hurricane season, combined with unpredictable disasters such as floods, tornados and earthquakes.

Emergency situations, especially those that pertain to natural disasters, can be difficult to recover from without proper planning. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, normal preparedness procedures look a little different and it is even more important to take small steps from the start to protect you and your family should a natural disaster strike.

In interviews, Monica Sanders, Director of the William Averette Anderson Fund for Hazard Mitigation Education and Research, former American Red Cross Senior Legal Advisor for International Response and Programs, and Hurricane Katrina survivor, will provide helpful tips on how to prepare for a disaster during the COVID-19 pandemic
