Former major league first baseman Mark Teixeira joined ESPN as an MLB analyst prior to the start of 2017 baseball season. Teixeira is an analyst on ESPN’s flagship MLB show, Baseball Tonight. He appears on Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown, ESPN’s weekly pregame show preceding Sunday Night Baseball, and provides analysis for a variety of ESPN platforms, including studio coverage and SportsCenter The three-time All-Star and World Series champion played for four teams during his 14-year MLB career including time with the Texas Rangers (2003-07), Atlanta Braves (2007-08), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2008) and New York Yankees (2009-2016).Teixeira played his college baseball at Georgia Tech and was drafted by the Texas Rangers as the fifth pick of the 2001 MLB draft. While with the Rangers in 2005, Teixeira’s career reached new heights when he received both the Silver Slugger Award (second of three in his career) and the Gold Glove Award (first of five in his career) for his offensive and defensive excellence, respectively. That same season he was named to his first All-Star team. In 2009, his first of eight seasons with the Yankees, Teixeira helped the team to a World Series victory. During a game in 2011, Teixeira, one of baseball’s most recognizable switch hitters, connected for a home run from both sides of the plate for the 12th time in his career making him the all-time leader in that category at the time. He accomplished that same feat three additional times following that game. He stayed with the team through the 2016 season when he announced his retirement.
