Dr. Luis Raez is the Medical Director and Chief Scientific Officer of Memorial Cancer Institute (MCI), and specializes in treating patients with lung, head and neck cancers. He is also the Oncology Research Director and Director of the Thoracic Oncology Program of Memorial Health Care System (MHS). A critical component of Dr. Raez’s work at Memorial is cancer research. He designs phase I-III clinical trials with new chemotherapeutic agents and combinations, as well as translational research in the areas of cancer vaccines. Dr. Raez is the current sitting president of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Raez completed medical school at Cayetano Herdia University in Peru and completed his residency in internal medicine, as well as his fellowship in oncology and hematology, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. Prior to joining Memorial, Dr. Raez was an associate professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health and a co-director of Thoracic Oncology at Sylvester Cancer Center/University of Miami for 10 years. Dr. Raez also teaches the next generation of oncologists as the clinical associate professor of medicine at Florida International University and is a visiting professor of medicine at Cayetano Heredia University in Peru.
