Songwriters from around the country set to flock to area beaches for festival

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The sixth annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is set to kick off next week.

The event is expected to bring more than 80 nationally acclaimed singer-songwriters to the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel.

It kicks off on Captiva Island on September 20th through the 22nd, then moves to historic downtown Fort Myers from September 23rd through the 25th.

It them wraps up on Fort Myers Beach from September 27th through 29th.

Songwriters from around the country will perform more than 100 free shows, giving attendees the opportunity to learn the stories behind some of their favorite songs.

Special ticketed events include a dinner and wine pairing, Kristian Bush of Sugarland performing with the Gulf Coast Symphony, and headlining concerts featuring Gone West and Rodney Atkins.
