TAMPA, Fla. -- A new roller coaster called Tigris is opening Friday at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
Standing at 150 feet tall and traveling at speeds over 60 miles per hour, it's the tallest launch coaster to hit the Sunshine State.
Fox 4’s Kathryn Marsh and photographer Wyvonne Jones got the chance to ride it before anyone else Thursday.
Tigris is the ninth roller coaster to hit the theme park, and the director of engineering says it's one of their most unique. "It has triple launches, so it's launching you forward, it launches you in reverse and it launches you forward again at 62 miles per hour," says Andrew Schaffer.
A percentage of the proceeds made from Tigris will help fund rescue, research, and rehabilitation efforts for tigers across the globe.
