NAPLES, Fla. — A Naples woman is using creativity to help people cope in quarantine.
Cheryl Lampard started 'Knitter Matters' on Facebook, eight weeks ago.
She wanted to use knitting to bring people joy during challenging times.
Every Tuesday at noon, she offers free live lessons on different techniques and patterns.
She says viewers have enjoyed the videos and learning a new hobby.
“It’s so exciting for me and it’s almost quite emotional the fact that I get people saying they always wanted to learn to do this or I’ve never been able to or you’ve given me a new hobby. I can’t tell you how that gets to me," says Lampard.
Before moving to Naples, she owned her own yarn store in England.
Teaching her passion on Knitter Matters is now her favorite part of the week.
Lampard says it's a great activity to pick up while you're stuck indoors. Knitting can be therapeutic, inexpensive, and easily portable.
"If you don’t give it a try you’ll never know. You might find that it’s one of the most therapeutic, relaxing, and enjoyable things you’ve ever done," said Lampard.
