Marco Island to reopen beaches, basket ball and bocci courts

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — The City of Marco Island has voted to reopen its beaches.

In a special meeting, they voted unanimously 6-0 to Reopen the city-controlled beach access points effective Thursday.

The City Manager will be able to utilize staff to enforce proper social distancing guidelines.

The County parking areas, as well as Sarazen and Residents' Beach, will also open simultaneously.

City Council says they will also Reopen "hard surfaces" like the basketball court and bocce court at city parks, as well as reopen the Caxambas boat ramp consistent with the County, on May 1.

They want to bring back a recommendation on safely reopening the playground and splash pad at an upcoming meeting.
