Governor Ron Desantis issued an executive order to reopen Florida barbershops, hair, and nails salon on Monday, May 11th.
The Governor says the decision was based on data showing a decrease of hospital visits for influenza-like illness and Covid-19.
The order stipulates certain conditions for the safety of employees and customers.
Customers must make an appointment to be serviced at barbershops, hair, and nail salons.
Businesses must allow at least 15 minutes between appointments to disinfect.
Barbershops and nail salons can't schedule group appointments, and masks must be worn by all employees while performing the services.
Barbershops and cosmetology salons are encouraged to clean and disinfect before reopening.
All tools and linens must be disinfecting, even if they were cleaned before the business closed.
The order states this type of cleaning should be done each day of operation.
The order also recommends businesses to remove all unnecessary, frequently touched items like magazines and newspapers, and provide masks to clients during their appointment.
