CAPE CORAL, Fla -- Major announcements are expected from Governor Ron DeSantis Wednesday, when it comes to re-opening Florida.

This follows the governor's meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, where they talked about Florida's efforts to combat COVID-19.

During the joint news conference, the governor said he's confident about re-opening parts of Florida in the coming weeks. That announcement follows meetings of his Re-Open Florida Task Force, and his review of its final report.

Desantis also said he's been working closely with the White House to determine what Florida's re-opening will look like.

Today he'll share statewide recommendations for phase one. This comes just one day prior to when his safer-at-home order is set to expire.

The governor's office has not yet released his schedule for Wednesday. You can count on Fox 4 to send you a push alert through the Fox 4 Now app, as soon as we learn what time his announcement will take place.
