COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Collier County Commissioners announced beach parks, playing fields, and hard courts will reopen Thursday morning. Commissioners approved to re-open on Tuesday.
Currently, the county is removing barricades put in place at beach parks in March. On Thursday, the county will open entry gates so pedestrians and drivers can enter and make their way to the beaches. Drivers will have access to parking, but not all parking lots will be available at sunrise.
Some places to get food and drinks will re-open Thursday, and most will be open by Saturday. Also, Collier County officials say tram service will not be operating at Clam Pass Park.
Due to additional assistance needed to remove barricades at South Marco Beach, the re-opening could be delayed a few hours.
In order to prevent erosion, the county will re-nourish Lake Avalon beach at Sugden Park, so the opening will be delayed to Monday, May 4.
Collier County says sanitation protocols, guidelines, and staffing will be on-site to remind people of safety social distancing and safety guidelines.
Tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts will be open throughout the day.
