CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers say a Fort Myers woman was hit and killed while walking on a remote section of Interstate 75 Monday night, and the driver fled the scene.

It happened around 9:30pm near mile marker 153, about five miles south of the Tucker's Grade exit.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Sabrina Avrissaint of Fort Myers was walking "within the southbound lanes" of the interstate.  That's when an unknown southbound vehicle hit Avrissaint.

Troopers say the woman was dragged by the vehicle and came to rest on between the travel lanes.  The driver of the vehicle left before troopers arrived.
