FORT MYERS, Fla., - More than 50 flights have been canceled at Southwest Florida International Airport as a powerful winter storm batters the Northeast with more than 12 inches of snow and strong winds.
Many of those flights are to big airports in cities like New York, Washington D.C and Boston.
The bad weather is leaving travelers in Southwest Florida waiting longer than usual.
A Spokesperson with RSW says about a quarter of flights scheduled at RSW were cancelled Thursday - many cancelled all day long as a proactive measure from the airlines.
Others were delayed as winter storm warnings continue for much of New England.
If you have a scheduled flight leaving RSW or are expecting someone to arrive from the Northeast, you are urged to check the airlines’ website for the most up to date information on cancellations and delays.
