FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Cypress Lake High School will hold a vigil Thursday night for a Fort Myers Marine who went missing after a helicopter crash off the coast of Hawaii.
22-year-old Corporal Thomas Jardas, a graduate from the Southwest Florida high school, was among 12 Marines who vanished after two helicopters collided during a training flight a week ago.
Authorities say they have suspended the search and are now considering this a recovery and salvage mission.
The vigil is Thursday at 6:30pm at Cypress Lake High School, located on Panther Lane off Cypress Lake Drive west of Winkler Road.
