DETROIT-- Two Detroit officers are in the hospital, and one is fighting for their life.

The two were investigating reported break-ins at one house in the city’s west cide just before midnight Sunday.

As the two approached the house’s front door, a shot rang out, hitting one officer in the face, and the other in the arm.

The officer hit in the face is in critical condition, while the officer hit in the arm is expected to be released from the hospital Monday afternoon.

A woman and her two sons, 19 years old and 14 years old, were detained by police.

Police Chief James Craig said the 19-year-old fired the shot and may not have known who was at the door.
