Congressman Francis Rooney reached out to lead administrators who have resources to help with the toxic water algae Tuesday.
According to a release, Rep. Rooney sent letters to seven federal agencies asking administrators to visit the area to process the damage.
Rep. Rooney requested the administrators to meet with local officials and formulate a solution.
Letters were sent to multiple agencies including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, the Department of Health & Human Services, the Department of the Interior, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
“While we still await a decision on this, we must also look for whatever assistance is available from all relevant federal agencies in addition to the official disaster declaration,” said Congressman Rooney. “As expeditiously as possible we need to pursue every possible means to resolve the destructive impacts to our tourism and real estate-based economy and quality of life in Southwest Florida.”
