CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A tornado photo is making the rounds in the Southwest Florida, claiming to be an image of Saturday night's tornado that touched down in Cape Coral.
However, there does not appear to be much evidence that is true.
Fox 4 has received several submissions of the same photo, with differing explanations to its source. We've investigated some claims, and kept getting reports that a 'friend' took the photo, with various locations in Cape Coral listed as the location. None of the sources appear to be reliable.
Fox 4's contacts at the National Weather Service say the photo does not appear to be the Cape Coral storm.
A second photo making the rounds featuring two tornadoes appears to be from a 2011 storm in Iowa.
Saturday's storm hit Cape Coral after dark, making it difficult to get photos of. No confirmed photos of the tornado have surfaced.
