CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A wonderful opportunity is upcoming for Ida Baker High School in Cape Coral. The school's marching band is heading to London.
The band will soon be taking its tunes overseas, as it was just invited to London's New Year's Day Parade and Festival. It's an honor only two other Lee County schools have had.
About 100 band members are expected to take the trip, which is two years away.
School officials considers this a trip of a lifetime. "This is an incredible honor for our school, for our community. These young men and ladies have worked very hard. This is an incredible honor to be bestowed upon them to participate in such a prestigious international event."
But it's not exactly a done deal just yet; the band needs to raise about $3,500 per person to go. The New Year's Day Parade typically draws tens of millions of viewers from around the world.
