A group of children who are under treatment or in remission at the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida got to celebrate Christmas early at Florida Icehorse Farm in North Fort Myers.
Each kid got to paint, take home a few gifts, and ride horses decked in Christmas spirit.
Klaudia Balogh with the Childrens Cancer Foundation, Inc. says giving children the opportunity to ride, play, and interact with horses is proven to elevate a child's mood and boost emotional state during and after treatments.
"It's a struggle when kids go through chemo therapy," Balogh said. "It's not only a financial struggle for the family, but it's a huge emotional burden they carry throughout the years."
