GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Former NBA great Shaquille O'Neal is showing his support for a Gainesville police officer who responded to a noise complaint about kids playing basketball by joining in the game.
The Gainesville officer gained national attention after he dealt with the Jan. 15 noise complaint by reaching out to the kids and showing off his skills, which included a slam dunk, on the neighborhood court.
The Gainesville Police Department says O'Neal wanted to show his support for the officer's actions. O'Neal visited the Gainesville neighborhood on Saturday, met with residents and even played basketball with the local kids.
