Suspects still on the loose after Cape Coral home invasion

CAPE CORAL, Fla-- Police continue to search for suspects who reportedly made off empty-handed after a home invasion that left one person injured Monday morning. The attempted robbery took place in the 4800 block of Manor Ct. in Cape Coral.

The man who is now left with a bandage around his head said he was doing yard work in front of his home when two suspects came up behind him, began attacking him and demanding money while pointing a gun at him and then his dog.

The man said a fight ensued inside his garage while his girlfriend, who was inside the home at the time of the attack, called 911 before fleeing out the back door.

However, residents at a Four Freedoms Park just two blocks away from the scene said unfortunately they are not surprised to hear of a crime like this taking place in their neighborhood.

"It's just this area is getting worse I think," said a nearby resident.

The resident didn't want to be identified but said in the three years she's lived in the neighborhood she's gone from feeling safe to fearing for her life when outside.

"I'm worried about the children here and I don't ever come at dark here," said the woman.

However, today's reported attack took place in daylight and that has many who live nearby worried.

The Cape Coral PD continue to investigate this robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Cape Coral PD at 239-574-3223.
