CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- UPDATE: City officials say the water park damaged by fire early Wednesday will reopen on Tuesday to the general public. Swim camps scheduled to begin Monday will be held as scheduled. Participants should enter through the side gate.
The fire is believed to have been started by a golf cart inside the building overnight, and caused total destruction of the facility, which housed the Calypso Cafe, the gift shop and guest services. Fire crews were able to limit the damage to just the one building.
