Venice school evacuated for several hours after bomb threat

VENICE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a southwest Florida high school was evacuated for several hours following a bomb threat.

The Herald-Tribune (https://goo.gl/SH3yY0 ) reports that the threat occurred at Venice High School Thursday afternoon.

Venice police say students were evacuated to the football field at 1:30 p.m. The school was reopened shortly after 4:20 p.m.

Venice police officers and members of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Bomb Squad searched the school with canines. No suspicious devices were found.

It wasn't immediately clear how the bomb threat was issued or if authorities have any suspects.
