TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Police are investigating the theft of human remains from coffins in a family's mausoleum.
Italian Club Cemetery President John Centinaro says it's unclear when the break-in happened at the Spicola family's mausoleum. A visitor to the Ybor City cemetery reported the damage Wednesday.
Police spokeswoman Andrea Davis says a coffin is missing along with the remains of three family members who died in 1913, 1914 and 1935. Davis says a skull also is missing from another coffin that was disturbed.
Carlo Spicola Jr. said the family is offering a reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest or the return of the remains. He says the missing coffin is smaller because it contained remains that had been disinterred and relocated to the mausoleum several decades ago.
