FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - The driver of a vehicle heading the wrong way without headlights has died in a crash on Florida's Turnpike near Fort Lauderdale.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a 26-year-old man was killed late Sunday. The crash closed the southbound lanes of the Turnpike for several hours.
Troopers say man's vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer, which tried to swerve to avoid the crash. The truck jack-knifed but the two people inside were not injured.
The names of those involved have not been released.
The highway patrol is investigating.
