MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -A New York man faces a murder charge after a parking dispute escalated into gunfire in Florida.

An arrest report says 19-year-old Jeffery Alexander of Brooklyn, New York, was riding in a BMW attempting to parallel park late Sunday on Miami Beach's popular Ocean Drive.

Police said the BMW hit a parked Buick several times before the Buick's owner walked over with a friend.

The report says the BMW's driver handed a gun to Alexander, who fired as the car pulled away from the parking space.

The Buick's owner was shot in the leg. Thirty-year-old Ladarian Tyrell Phillips of Homestead, Florida, was fatally shot in the back.

Alexander was held without bond Monday at a Miami-Dade County jail on charges of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder. Jail records didn't show whether he had an attorney.
