BRADENTON, Fla. - Fire crews in Bradenton are spending Friday morning monitoring hot spots following a massive warehouse fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters concerned for public safety due to the toxic materials inside. The fire sparked in the area of 44th Ave E and 9th street E.

The fire marshal is still working on a cause for the 5-alarm fire. Early information ABC Action News got from witnesses on scene points to an employee in the warehouse working on a car.

The concern for firefighters was the toxic materials inside, including tires.

Calvin Perry, the owner of nearby business Blue Grass industries described for ABC Action News the moments the fire sparked.

"Oh, the smoke was terrible. I mean the smoke went up 100-150 feet to start. After that it blacked out the whole skyline from our view from the shop," said Perry.

At least one person was hurt in the fire.
