LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A Lakeland man has been arrested after police say he tried to sell marijuana to an undercover detective.
The Ledger of Lakeland (http://bit.ly/1lVgPvb) reports 29-year-old Javier Ortiz was arrested on Nov. 24. Andrew Cunningham, a Polk County Sheriff's detective, says Ortiz and a second man pull up next to him at a gas station and offered to sell him marijuana.
Cunningham says he told him he would need to go into the store to get cash. Cunningham's partner then approached him and Cunningham explained what was happening. Cunningham says the two officials put Ortiz and Zachary Yarborough into handcuffs.
Ortiz was booked on charges including attempted sale of cannabis and possession of cannabis. Yarborough was later released.
It isn't clear if Ortiz has an attorney.
