GULF OF MEXICO -- Two men are lucky to be alive and on dry land after being rescued in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.
This rescue video was taken by the U.S. Coast Guard after the intense weekend storms damaged the men's boat and caused them to take on water as they navigated 20-foot seas.
The Coast Guard hoisted the men to safety from a rescue helicopter, taking them to Key West International Airport, where emergency medical services were waiting. The rescue took place about 30 nautical miles northwest of Marquesas Key.
The Coast Guard says the boat's sail had torn and the hull had cracked.
An aircraft commander says the rescue took place in the worst conditions he had ever seen in the Gulf of Mexico.
