LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. (AP) - Police are investigating the deaths of two employees in an apparent "robbery gone bad" at a beachside resort on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming said during a news conference Friday that officers were called to Zota Beach Resort about 3:30 a.m. and found the bodies of 51-year-old security guard Kevin Carter and 59-year-old front desk manager Timothy Hurley. Both men died of gunshot wounds.

Police say video from surveillance cameras at the hotel shows the suspect in the slayings.

Cummings described the shooting as "isolated," adding he has "no concerns for residents or visitors on the island."

An investigation continues.

The resort opened June 23. Longboat Key is a barrier island off of Sarasota.
