LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- A central Florida woman says she has been ordered to take down a sign supporting President Trump and standing for the national anthem.
Elaine Simmons of Minneola, Florida tells Orlando's Fox 35 that she had initially put the sign up along North Hancock Road when Donald Trump was still a candidate and had no complaints about it. That is, until she changed the message to say: "Proud to be an American. We stand for the national anthem" last month.
That's when the sign was vandalized and she was notified by the county that the sign was a code violation.
So the sign is coming down, despite her continued belief in its message. "I think it's really, really sad."
