(11:57am) A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains valid until 5pm for the following 9 counties:

Hardee, Polk, DeSoto, Highlands, Charlotte, Lee, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota.

This includes the cities of: Arcadia, Avon Park, Bayshore Gardens, Bonita Springs, Bowling Green, Bradenton, Brandon, Cape Coral, Englewood, Fort Myers, Lakeland, Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, North Port, Palmetto, Placid Lakes, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Sebring, South Venice, Tampa, Venice, Wauchula, Winter Haven, and Zolfo Springs.

(10:03am) The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in 27 Florida counties, including Lee and Charlotte, until 5:00pm.

(8:15am -- Expired) The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Sarasota County and western Charlotte County until 8:45am.

At 8:14am, a severe thunderstorm was located 16 miles northwest of Pineland, or 23 miles southwest of Port Charlotte, moving northeast at 45 mph.  Hazard includes 60 mph wind gusts.

Locations impacted include North Port, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Charlotte County Airport, Burnt Store Marina, Solana, Cleveland, Grove City, Murdock, Rotonda, Placida, Charlotte Harbor, Charlotte Park, Tropical Gulf Acres, Pirate Harbor, Gulf Cove, El Jobean and Harbour Heights.
