FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Fort Myers Police have confirmed that one teenager is dead and another person is injured after a shooting in Fort Myers Friday morning.
The shooting happened around 11am on Dr. Ella Piper Way, between Cranford Avenue and Palm Avenue.
Fort Myers Police Department says that two men were shot in the incident. An FMPD detective in the area responded to gunshot fire and arrived to find 17-year-old Nathaniel Pitts laying on the ground. He was given CPR and transported to Lee Memorial, where he died from his injuries.
One other person was also wounded, but is expected to survive.
The shooter is still on the loose. Police are searching for a green early-2000's Nissan Altima.
