SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. -- Fierce flames ripped through a home on Sanibel Island Thursday afternoon, leaving the place completely destroyed. Now investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
Crews say the fire ignited shortly before noon inside a home in the 900 block of Beach Road.
No one was home when the fire broke out, and crews manage to put out the flames about an hour later.
The homeowner actually arrived around the time firefighters responded.
The State Fire Marshal and the Lee County Arson Task Force are still investigating, but they do not consider the fire suspicious.
