FORT MYERS, Fla. - A San Carlos Park home was destroyed after an overnight fire in the 7000 block of Pebble Beach Road.
The fire broke out around 11:30 Thursday night. Fire officials say the home is 95% destroyed after the fire that took more than 8,000 gallons of water to fight.
The home is a duplex where four people lived. The daughter of an elderly disabled couple who lived in the duplex says they were taken to a Naples hospital as a precaution.
Firefighters got the call after a deputy driving by noticed a spark under a truck in the driveway and alerted the fire department. Neighbors say they heard an explosion.
Four fire agencies helped to put out the blaze. The home is deemed a total loss along with 3 vehicles.
